Schedules, Schedules, Schedules (part 2)

The past few months, since the last time I wrote about schedules (3 month – 7 months schedules) were pretty calm… Everything went smoothly into that last schedule I wrote about and there weren’t any drastic changes until recently. Here’s what 7 months – 12 months looked like:

7 months
7 wake and feed
8 solids
9 – 11 nap
11 feed
12 solids
1:30 – 3:30 nap
3:30 feed
4:30 / 5 solids
6:30 feed
7 bed

9 months
7 wake and feed
7:30 breakfast
9:30 – 11 nap
11 nurse
12 lunch
2 – 3:30 nap
3:30 nurse
4:30 dinner
6:30 nurse
7 bed

Between 9 – 12 months, as A began to take longer and longer to fall asleep for her naps, we slowly moved the start of the nap times back, but even then, the schedule was pretty similar to before. I feel into a good rhythm of being able to do things in the morning before her first nap, and then being able to do more things before her second nap!

11/12 months
7 wake and feed
7:30 breakfast
10 – 11:15 nap
11:15 nurse
12 lunch
2:15 – 3:30 nap
3:30 nurse
4:30 dinner
6:30 nurse
7 bed

I decided to start weaning right after her 1st birthday, by dropping one nursing session each week, so at the beginning of the month (12 month), we did the following:

12 months

3x nursing / 2 naps:
7 wake and nurse
7:30 breakfast
10 – 11:15 nap
11:15 nurse
12 lunch
2:15 – 3:30 nap
3:30 snack
4:30 / 5 dinner
6:30 nurse
7 bed

Shortly after that, her schedule started going weird! She would take 30 – 45 minutes to fall asleep for her naps, which ended up hardly being a nap at all since I didn’t want her sleeping too long during the day in order to preserve her nighttime sleep.

I kept going back and forth on moving to 1 nap for the longest time. I read that there’s a regression around 12 months, and that it’s best to stick it out with two naps because once they’re walking they’ll get tired quicker, but after a few weeks of capping the first nap, only to have her completely refuse to take the second nap, I decided to just start transitioning.

2x nursing / 1 nap:
7 wake and nurse
8 breakfast
10 snack
11 / 11:30 – 1 / 2 nap
1/ 2 lunch
3:30 snack
5 dinner
6:30 nurse
7 bed

1x nursing / 1 nap:
7 wake and nurse
8 breakfast
10 snack
11 / 11:30 – 1 / 2 nap
1/ 2 lunch
3:30 snack
5 dinner
6:30 nurse
7 bed

We’re still doing the schedule above right now, but ideally this is the schedule I’m moving towards when I drop the last nursing session.

7 wake and breakfast
9:30 / 10 snack
11:30 lunch
12 – (ideally) 2:30 / 3 nap
3 snack
5:30 / 6 dinner
7 bed

We’ll see how it goes! 🙂
